Matthias Häussler earned his first PhD in philosophy from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt with a thesis on Hegel’s concept of religion, for which he was awarded the 1st International Maurice Blondel Award in Modern Philosophy of Religion. Although he has been working in the Social Sciences for most of his career, he earned his second PhD in history from the University of Lucerne. His research lead him to extended stays in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa and at renowned research institutions such as the University of California Berkeley or the Hamburg Institute for Social Research.
